I had a different post planned for today, but in light of the bombings at the Boston Marathon finish line yesterday, I feel it’s appropriate to change directions. This post is dedicated to the 144 people who were injured and the 3 people who lost their lives at an event which symbolizes life and celebrates the resilience of man.

On a personal note, I live a few blocks from the site of the blast and was home at the time. I heard the twin explosions and brushed them off as just run of the mill city noise. I’m sickened, shocked and saddened but I know that Boston will come back stronger. My heart goes out to the victims, their families and the thousands of runners who poured their hearts into training only to be told to turn around as they approached the finish line. I thank the first responders, Boston police, Boston fire department, paramedics and all the people who ran toward the blast to help those who couldn’t run away from it.

4 Thoughts on “In Honor of Boston

  1. The stories of first responders and completed marathoners rushing to help the injured or donate blood just welled my heart with pride in the remaining goodness in a world that clearly has so much hate and evil in it.

    • You know, its true- seeing everyone help the injured and hearing stories about people who took in runners who had nowhere else to go makes you realize there is a lot more good in this world than bad.

  2. “the people who ran toward the blast to help those who couldn’t run away from it.” Lovingly said…WOW!
