TGIF y’all!!!

How I wish i could be at work.

I’m soo glad it’s Friday. What do you have planned this cinco de mayo weekend?

It’s funny, when I was in my early 20s cinco de mayo meant looking forward to margaritas and coronas, but now I’m just as interested (if not more so) in the guacamole. Is that just me?

I’m really excited about today’s edition of Foodstuff Friday because my guest smoothie-maker is my mother!

me and my mom!

me and my mom!

Her smoothies are pretty legendary in my family so I hope you’re starting to get excited too.

Just make sure that you follow these instructions down to the letter, because otherwise I can not be held responsible for any injuries, pulled muscles or lack of fun. Her email to me is below:

Are you more excited about the margaritas or the guacamole on may 5? (“both” is a completely acceptable answer)

35 Thoughts on “Foodstuff Friday: Get Mov’in Smooth’in For Two

  1. Definitely all about the guac & chips these days! Not a big fan of te-kill-ya but that’s a story for another day! Smoothie sounds amazing & who doesn’t love a good dance party? Have a great weekend!

  2. Dance, dance, dance…and a delicious smoothie…Life just doesn’t get any better then that!

  3. So cute, and it sounds delish!
Although we eat Mexican multiple times a week, we aren’t going to have any for cinco de mayo! We’ll be camping, and it’s just not easy camp food!
    Happy Friday!

  4. Hahaha I love the story you told within the smoothie. Perfect for a friday!

  5. you are a freaking riot! that episode of will and grace when karen dances like that never ceases to have me laughing hysterically. smoothie sounds yum! Have a great weekend you silly lady!

  6. Those .gifs are hysterical! <3 Also, you look so much like your mom – beautiful!!

  7. Ha! I love this. Gotta get my groove on! I wish I were having a Dos X this year, but I think I’ll be sticking to guac. 😉

  8. bahahahaha! This is my first time reading your blog, but after seeing this:

“It’s funny, when I was in my early 20s cinco de mayo meant looking forward to margaritas and coronas, but now I’m just as interested (if not more so) in the guacamole. Is that just me?”

I know we’re gonna be friends!

I can’t decide if I love the GIF of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey dancing or of Karen Walker more (probably Karen…or should I say Anastasia Beaverhousen?). I also want to go on record as saying that I think you and your mom are both gorgeous. Like, seriously. And that she seems to be like a pretty rad lady – if judging by her smoothie recipe is any indication 😉

PS: In case I haven’t mentioned it, that whole Liebster thing basically made my week. So there’s that 😉

    • Aw thank you!! And yes- she’s a really rad lady :) You’re so deserving of the liebster award- your answers were SO great btw. and lol- anastasia beaverhousen is the best alias ever.

  10. I definitely legitimately laughed out loud throughout this entire post.

Mangoes and berries sounds SO GOOD together. I’m definitely trying this for my next smoothie!…if I ever buy mangoes, because they’re so darn expensive. -.-

    • They’re really good together! my boyfriend and i were at the market over the weekend and found some pretty moderately priced mangoes, i was really excited… shoot i can’t remember what kind they were, but i’ll let you know when when i think of it!

  11. Lol oh man, if only I had some good tunes to listen to while watching those .gifs. Got any recommendations? 😀

I’m most definitely more excited about guac than I am about margaritas. I’m actually really hoping that I can convince my parents to whip up something Mexican this weekend. I have dinner at their place on Sundays and they’re not the biggest fans of Mexican. I know right?! Who the heck doesn’t like Mexican?! I swear I was adopted.

    • After looking at so many fresh prince dancing videos yesterday i’ve had “its not unusual” in my head for the past 2 days- ahh I need a new soundtrack. Have fun at your parents place on sunday! hopefully you can convince them to do a mexican theme… i feel like some really good guac can turn even the staunchest non-mexican food eaters into, at the very least, mexican-food appreciators :)

  12. So funny! It’s five o’clock somewhere… TGIF! 😉

  13. I love this — the smoothie recipe sounds delicious, and I totally can relate on the love of guac! I’m pretty excited about the margs too, but anything involving avocadoes is a win in my book. :)

  14. Your mom makes a mean smoothie!! All those video totally make me want to get movin’! :)

  15. I LOVE all the GIFs on this blog- they are always perfect. Today’s GIF of NeNe from the Real Housewives of Atlanta is particularly apropos. Your mom’s smoothie recipe looks amaze, I can’t wait to try it. I’ve been meaning to get a new blender, and this might just be the motivation I need to finally make the purchase.

PS- Am I the only one who misses Charlotte’s blog posts over the weekend?

    • Lol, oh stop. you’re too much. really. going forward can you comment all the time please :) and omg i should dedicate a post to how we met in 11th grade latin class, and how we bonded over vitamin water, fro yo and going to the gym… that might have to happen in the very near future.

  16. You need to do a post on the flavors of “Only 8” (chocolate, fall foliage, wooden accents etc). I’m available to do a guest post on TCBY Shivers.

  17. hahaha love this post! You and your Mom are too cute :) I’ll be enjoying a Marg and hopefully guacamole too on the 5th! Happy weekend!
