mixtape

Hello and welcome to Monday!

How was your weekend? Mine was quite fantastic actually. It was filled with lots and lots of delicious food, which I’ll discuss more in depth later in the week. But long story short, it started with some Mediterranean fare, continued with some hot pots in Chinatown and ended with a scrumptious Father’s Day dinner with my dad at one of our favorite restaurants in Boston.

Fitness-wise, I went for a 3 mile run (woohoo!) on Friday evening and I have to say this was the best run I’ve had in a very long  while. It also felt great just to be outside with the sun shining because last week was miserably rainy. Do you get tired and moody under such weather conditions? I do. Luckily the sun decided to stay out for the rest of the weekend and I appreciated it even more than I usually would.

Anyways as I was running on Friday, I was listening to Pandora’s “today’s hits” station and I was loving every song.  Thus, this week’s mixtape theme is just music I’m loving at the moment.  And there are two bonus tracks at the end by Lorde and Jessie Ware that my sister recommended, which are quickly becoming my two absolute favorite songs of the summer.

Spotify: Summer ’13 Mixtape

  1. blurred lines – robin thicke, t.i., pharrell
  2. cruise – florida georgia line
  3. radioactive – imagine dragons
  4. come & get it – selena gomez
  5. my songs know what you did in the dark (light em up) – fall out boy
  6. feel this moment – christina aguilera, pitbull
  7. love somebody – maroon 5
  8. people like us – kelly clarkson
  9. can’t hold us – macklemore, ray lewis
  10. clarity – zedd, foxes
  11. royals – lorde
  12. wildest moments – jessie ware

Hope your week is off to a great start! Go Bruins!

  1. Sounds like you had a fab weekend! I did too, with plenty of yummy meals, seeing friends, but also a spot of running and yoga :) ! In terms of weather/mood, I definitely feel more ‘bleurgh’ (that’s the only word I can think of to describe it) when it’s rainy/glum/dark for most of the hours of the day. I definitely have a lift of spirit when spring rolls around, it is like a dark cloud has (literally) been lifted – figured it must be on the spectrum of SAD!

    • I’m the exact same way! yeah i fall somewhere on the SAD spectrum too. and if it’s been rainy for more than 1 day my mood becomes as dark as those clouds. glad you had a good weekend too!

  2. A runner’s high is one of the sweetest! Happy Monday!

  5. My almost 4 y/o loves to sign along to the ‘fire’ song. It’s hilarious to hear her sing ‘light ’em up, up, up, i’m on fire!’ Sounds like a great weekend – can’t wait to read more about the yummy food! We had a nice weekend and spent lots of time at the pool, which never fails to make everyone super hungry and super tired. Long naps = happy mom & dad!

  6. OMG BARRE CLASS WAS SO F*CKING HARD OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

She made us do all of this core work and THEN planks and THEN we went to the barre and my legs were literally shaking so violently. It would have been funny if it wasn’t so painful! SO HARD! You are a champion. I don’t know how you keep going back!

  7. Oh girl, I definitely feel ya on the weather front. It’s been cold and rainy here for about a week, and it took a serious shot at my mood. Today is the first day that the sun came out and I’m already feeling better… even though it’s Monday 😉

Imagine Dragons – love them. And I’ve just recently become obsessed with a song called Let Her Go by Passenger. I love it, but holy.smokes get out of my head…

  8. I’m glad to hear you had such a wonderful weekend, darling! :) with a culinary spread like that, though, I can’t say I’m surprised :) I’m loving at least 90% of the things on that list (don’t even get me started on all things Macklemore!!) so cheers to another wonderful mixed tape! Hope your Monday is as fabulous as you are, m’dear :)

  9. Can’t wait to hear about your good eats! Boston is certainly full of them! :) YAY for a great run on Friday night! Those kinds of runs make running an amazing sport, for sure. Oh yes, that Pandora station is amazing (but I’m obsessed with ALL things Pandora) and I love and am totally obsessed with blurred lines. The beat just makes me want to move it move it move it! Weather can totally dictate my mood – in a sense of whether I want to be a bum or not. Have a wonderful Monday!

  10. Pretty sure I’ve only heard about 4 songs up there…maybe I need to listen to teh radio a little more often 😉
Weather absolutely affects my mood – too many rainy days and I just want to lay on the couch and be a grump. Fortunately, we have absolutely perfect weather today, so it’s no surprise I’m in a good mood!

    • I know, weather makes such a huge difference in my mood. i dont like to admit that affects me so much, but it does. and yay im glad- a couple of these songs were somewhat new to me too but I was afraid people were going to be like “oh im over that song already” so yay for new music!!

  11. Can’t WAIT to hear more about your wkend – it already sounds fantastic! :) And heck yea on that running high – those are the best!!
Koryn @ High Heels & Healthy Alternatives recently posted…Making Memories…My Profile

    • Running highs really are the best- since I’d taken a long hiatus from running i forgot what those were like, but now that im starting to get into better shape cardio-wise, they’re starting to return :)

  12. I’m glad you got in a good run outside, that always feels great. The weather definitely affects my mood, rain and cold makes me want to curl up in a ball!
I need to add the Kelly Clarkson song to my playlist, it’s a good one for running!

  13. YAY I’M SO GLAD YOU WENT RUNNING! Wanna join me on my next half-marathon? 😉

I don’t even know where to start on your mixtape. I’m obsessed with at least half the songs on there! I’ve been listening to Clarity (and belting it at the top of my lungs…my sister’s not pleased) on repeat for the past few days.

  14. Sounds like a great weekend! I’m so glad to see the sun shining here these past few days because the rainy, dreary weather definitely affects my mood. I feel so much happier, awake and more motivated when the weather is nice. When it’s rainy, all I feel like doing is nothing.
    Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat recently posted…MIMM #1My Profile

    • Oh i know – i’m so weather affected too. 1 day of rain is annoying but im fine. 2 days and im grumpy/tired anything more than that and its hard to leave my bed!

  15. Yay for good weekends, and glad the sun let you have an awesome run! Thanks for sharing your songs! :)

  16. Excellent choice on the Pandora station! I’ve been putting it on the Fun. station lately, but I always love those most recent songs! Speaking of recent songs, anyone else blown away that ‘Now that’s what I call music’ is on like volume 49?? Anyways, glad you had a good weekend!! Weather definitely affects my mood…I feel useless and fat in the winter hahaha. And when it’s cloudy for days, it’s terrible! Warm, sunshine filled days are where it’s at :)

  17. I have a feeling your mixtapes are going to be on my Spotify all summer. For real girl…awesome!

This weekend was probably the craziest I’ve ever had. I graduated from Yoga Teacher Training, hubs turned 30 and we’re under contract on our first home. HOLY CRAP!

The weather totally affects my mood, but sometimes I love a good thunderstorm so I can sit on the couch and smell the rain.
