So the amaaaazing Sarah at Sweet Miles nominated me for the Liebster Award, and I’m SO honored to receive it!!

Even though it’s not my first nomination, I’ve just learned that every nomination feels fracking* awesome!!

*Battlestar Galactica reference anyone? Anyone at all? Or, wait speaking of Battlestar Galactica, has anyone seen that Portlandia episode where they keep watching Battlestar Galactica? Anyone? No? Ok, moving on.

Anyways, I’m not going to go full Liebster on you all today, I’m just going to answer Sarah’s survey questions, because they’re GREAT questions and because I love surveys.

Here we go:

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I love writing. And also because Eric dared me to (truth) and I do not back down from dares (totally false, I back down all the time)

2. What is your favorite part about blogging?

While I obviously love the writing part, I have to say my favorite part of the whole blogging experience has turned out to be getting to know the other bloggers :)

3. When you’re not blogging, what can you be found doing?

Working, bar methoding, watching too much tv, but mainly, just hanging out with Eric…

4. What is your favorite way to get your work out on?

With a bar!

And yes I mean that two-fold: 1. Bar Method, and 2. the other “bar” method- ie. lifting a glass of wine to and from my mouth repeatedly. I find that it is a good warm up for dancing around the room for the rest of the night.

5. What motivates you to stay healthy and active?

My deep inner desire to live forever, and my deep inner desire to look good in jeans.

6. What are you most proud of in your life, thus far?

Wow, what a good question. Hmm… this is quite difficult to answer because I’m the type of person who celebrates the small victories. Like for example, today I am most proud that I didn’t eat that 2nd muffin after I ate my first, even though I was hungry enough to. I’m not sure I could hold your attention if I got into a lifetime of stuff like that.

7. What goals do you have for yourself to accomplish by the end of the year?

  1. By 2014 I would like to have a steady income from writing.
  2. Not lose sight of goal #1.

8. What’s one thing you wish you could say to your younger self?

Stop thinking you’re not photogenic- even the worst photo you ever took at the age of 22 is still better than most of the photos you take at 30.

9. What is your favorite go-to recipe?

  • Start with a base of frozen yogurt.
  • Add coconut flakes, mochi and mango.
  • Eat before it melts.

10. What is the funniest thing you’ve heard today?

Anthony Weiner hired a new campaign manager (hint: it’s his weiner because “he was already making most of the major decisions, anyway”):

  1. Hahaha love the photoshopped pictures! I was crying from laughing. Looking good in jeans is a good motivation if you ask me. I, like you, started blogging because I enjoy writing but I would say my most favorite part is the really strong connections (dare I say friendships?) I’ve formed. It’s invaluable.

  8. I should really get my “bar” workouts on more often too lol. I actually just tried a Barre class and loved it but going to a bar is much more accessible so I may just stick to that…

    I, too, stay healthy and active because I want to live forever. Jokes, I feel like it’d be sad to see the state of the world in a few hundred years, when everyone’s buried in their electronic robots and not talking to each other anymore. (I’m so optimistic…) But I do want to live as long of a life as I can, and most importantly, enjoy it (hopefully) disease-free!

    • 1. i was SO hungry (well, yesterday morning when i wrote this, but today too) why is one muffin not enough to satisfy? i was also hungry after my bagel w/ pb this morning, not sure what thats about. 2. yep- i want to be HEALTHY for a long long time. living a long, unhealthy life would be torture.

  10. So first of all, entirely disagree with your thought that you’re not photogenic. I can pretty much guarantee you that in ten years, you’ll be talking about photos when you were thirty the same way you talk about photos when you were 22 😉

    And it’s hard to pinpoint one reason why I try to stay healthy – probably because I’ve been unhealthy in the past (both with the eating-too-much-crap and the not-eating-enough-period sense) so I’ve learned to really treasure the health I have now. And looking good in my clothes is as added bonus that I certainly won’t complain about 😉

    • Oh its so true about the “photogenic” thing- you always look better than you realize at the time, no matter what age. and being thankful of health is such a great quality, i dont think most people really appreciate it til they’re older, so you’re ahead of the game in my opinion :)

    • Haha! i love the honesty!! i work for a good butt too! and, i get asked that all the time, but no- im italian/irish. (my mom swears i was switched at birth though, so, you never know :) )

  16. I think I would LOVE barre classes, but there aren’t any in my area!!! Ok, to answer your question – I’m motivated to eat healthy because it just makes me feel better. I feel like I have a lot to get accomplished in life, and I don’t want to cut my time here short because I couldn’t put down the chicken fingers and fries. I exercise because without fail, I am happier, more centered, and stronger after I do.

  21. I LOVE a good photoshopped picture. I wish I could tell my younger self to love my 20 year old body. I see photos of it and it was glorious. Why did I not think so at the time?! I’d kill for that body at my current decrepit age of 45.

  23. Why did I start blogging?
    A: To hear myself type. And judging by the amount of traffic I get I accomplished that goal.

    What motivates me to stay active/healthy?
    A: Keeping up with the younger guys on the rink and having a better quality of life.

    Goal to accomplish by the end of the year?
    A: Keep writing. Keep the blog posts coming, at least twice a week and see what happens.
