So, when you have a blog, it’s essentially your full time job. Or your other full time job if you already have a full time job. Nobody really tells you that before you get into it. I remember having this exact thought the day I set mine up:

“Hey I should have 2 blogs! Why doesn’t anybody have 2 blogs? I want 2 blogs!”

A couple days later I was like “Ohhh that’s why nobody has 2 blogs. Right…”

One blog is a lot of work. And you’re suddenly not just you anymore, you’re you-with-a-blog. Everything in your life is now potential blog fodder.

  2. True, truer and truest!!! OMG you are too funny! I had NO clue how much work blogging would be until I started. It’s VERY hard for me to tell a story now without saying “one of the blogs I read” and I can just see a collective eye roll. Jealous.
Pictures of everything – for sure!!! Things I would have never in a million years captured on film before are now a must b/c it’s going to make a great post!! Speaking of…:-)

  3. Hahaha yes! These are all so true! I’ve noticed I take way more pictures. Which honestly isn’t a bad thing since I was terrible before. My favorite is when I tell my parents I’m meeting up with blog friends. At first try thought it was weird but now they just know that I’m weird and they’re happy I’m happy with online friends.

  4. Hahahah oh my gosh these are all so true! I also get REALLY disappointed when I eat something good, but the lighting is bad so I can’t take a picture. The blogger friends thing is really funny too, cause I totally bring up other people’s posts in conversations. It’s tough sometimes to keep up with all the blogging with a full-time job (I work a lot!), but just carving out 10 minutes or so throughout the day to catch up with people hasn’t been too hard.

  5. Love this Charlotte! Blogging does have a way of taking over our lives, doesn’t it? And it’s more than a little sad when you’re in touch with bloggy buddies more often than IRL friends & family! And what better way to combat boredom/really procrastinate at your real job?! Got a particularly pesky work assignment? Put it on the back burner & catch up on your blog feed! And don’t forget about ticking off your spouse & kids every now & then too! Mommy’s busy blogging right now!!

I usually only take pictures of my own food, and I try to do it on the sly with my phone (so people think I’m just Instagraming it), but last week I forgot my phone and I had to do it – I busted out the camera and took a full on staged food photo while sitting at the bar at happy hour…and I wasn’t sorry.

My life has changed since starting my blog because some friends are like “oh yeah I read that on your blog” when I tell them something… -_- I try to keep the fact that I have one off of my personal Facebook and I didn’t telly my family for a while. Blogger problems haha

  42. Agreed on every.sinlge.point. Could you be any more spot on with these?! Arman is SO right: you need (!) to get a book deal. Whatever it’s about I’ll buy it.
There has been such a lot of change in my life ever since starting my blog [in fact exactly a year ago today]. Most significant would really be all the amazing friendships I’ve made through blogging, Before I got into it I was highly sceptical how much more than superficial they could be but now I’ve been proven wrong in the very best way. Talking about those friendships with people in ‘real life’, though, is still awkard so I usually refer to blog friends as “a friend of mine overseas” leaving the blog out.
When people ask about the bazillion of pictures on my camera or why I need to take photos of the Christmas tree ornaments from every angle 😉 I’m obviously just ‘playing around with a few camera settings’.
Another thing that has changed is my mind: my ‘writer’ is constantly on drafting way more posts than ever happen to make it to my laptop. Seriously, somebody please invent thought recorders.
Miss Polkadot recently posted…From [blog] page to plateMy Profile

    • yes, yes and more yes! so 1. thought recorders really do need to be a thing one day. that would make my life soo much easier. 2. whatever photo makes it on to the blog, there are about 50 more photos from every possible angle of the same thing on my phone. i thought i was the only with that :) 3. non-bloggers dont get the blog friend thing. i certainly didnt before i started, but i have found this community to be the most supportive and amazing group of people. its hard to explain if you’re not in it. and 4. happy 1 year blogoversary!!!

  43. You are amazing! This is so true down to a T- so much so when I talk to my friends, I have to remind myself not to say ‘Fall’ instead of Autumn and say Pumpkin instead of ‘Kabocha’. Don’t even get me started on the food photos….

I just want to research stuff then rant about how ridiculous it all is and how we’re all killing ourselves and how everyone is misinformed and shit like that. I’m not real when it comes to every day healthy living type stuff. I go back and forth as to whether I like it or not. Honestly, I LOVE all the people I’ve met, and I enjoy reading everyone’s blogs, but it’s almost too much for me to post, comment on everyone I love, then respond to comments on top of everything else in the world. You’re right – it’s a full time job and not one that I’m necessarily down to take on right now. So I kinda pop up here and there every now and then.
