Hi. What happened?

That was my Olivia Pope impression :) I am so psyched for the Scandal season premiere!! Wait I can do better:

Hi. What happened? Huck?? What. Happened. Here??

If you don’t watch it, I highly suggest it.

Anyways, I’ve been focusing on interviewing recently, so this post wont be very long.

Today in “What To Expect When You’re Job Hunting” I’m going to show you what happens to your diet. And I think this can best be illustrated by showing you the junk in my trunk.

And by “junk” I mean actual garbage and by “trunk” Β I mean garbage can.

This is my trash can after working from home the last few days:

trash can

Ok fine, that’s a lie, actually this is what it looks like:

trash can 2

I’m not quite sure how this happened. Oh well. While I’m not proud of this, it could be worse. It could be wine bottles instead of Starbucks cups :)

(And I promise I took it all down to the garbage room after I took that photo.)

By the way, has anyone tried the new bakery items at Starbucks? What are your thoughts?

Whats your favorite way to drink coffee?

Or if you don’t like coffee, what’s your favorite drink?

86 Thoughts on “What To Expect When You’re Job Hunting

  1. Never been so proud to see so much starbucks evidence there. The extra box is the cheesy icing on the (pie) cake. Favourite way to drink coffee? Pretty much the epitomy of my appearance- black and hot. πŸ˜‰

Ignore the last word. I wish starbucks was more affordable here. A plain dark roast is $4 for the smallest size. Drink on my behalf, dear friend.

  2. When you said “it could be worse, it could be wine bottles” did you mean better? Ha ha!! I love a good cup of coffee but I usually have mine at home. My fav Starbucks is a Vanilla soy latte – YUM!!!

  3. In my case, the garbage can would be overflowing with Cherry Coke cans & candy wrappers! Fuel for interviews! Go get ’em Charlotte!

  4. πŸ˜† Now that’s my kind of garbage can! My home office can would probably look the same if I didn’t do a lot of my work in Starbucks and use their can to get rid of my trash. But on a random note… why doesn’t my Bux have the pink sleeves?! That’s seriously the cutest thing ever and I’m here stuck with the boring brown ones. Rude.

As for coffee, I looooove my dry cappuccinos, and if not that, then I’m usually drinking it black.
Amanda @ .running with spoons. recently posted…. monthly favorites – september 2013 .My Profile

    • i need to learn to drink it black- im drinking more milk than anyone needs. and those pink sleeves are because now all their bakery foods are from la boulange- a bakery based in san francisco, and they are playing up that light pink everywhere. not complaining- its so pretty :)

  5. Hahaha, love it! You should probably consider getting a decent coffee maker instead πŸ˜‰ mine helped me over quite a few study/internship/job hunting periods. But I think the picture looks kind of cute! Pink wrapers around coffee cups… too sad we don’t have these.

  6. Hahahah don’t scare me! I’m about to begin the job hunting process and I can’t say I’m looking forward to it as it is! The pizza though… That I can live with I think if that’s the worst part of the experience πŸ˜‰

  7. Haha – so true! After each phone call with an interviewer or recruiter I immediately reach for food. It’s awful! Luckily I haven’t blown all my money on Starbucks. I’d like to, but seeing as how I’m decaf these days, I just stick to whatever’s already in arm’s reach.

  8. Lady – I sure hope you blow them interviewers away! My fingers and toes and eyes are crossed hoping you land your dream job soon!

There are people who don’t like coffee??? on earth????
I love Starbucks Mochas – but, they make my budget bout once a week, that and there are no starbucks right on the freeway where I seem to spend most of my day sitting in traffic with my cuppa Maxwell House!

  9. My favorite way to drink Starbucks is in the Venti Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate kind of way. Needless to say, my jeans don’t really appreciate that. So, I stick to drinking my coffee at home. With sugar free coffee cream. Totally the same.
P.S. I am counting down the minutes until Scandal!!-Ashley

    • yay scandal!! and i have yet to try the salted caramel hot chocolate because im afraid i would love it too much! and yeah those sugar free creamers with the awesome names- i use those too- totally the same :)

  10. Oh my I need to job search with you my friend. I would be in heaven…starbucks and pizza? It doesn’t get any better than that!

Yes I;ve had the cheese danish a few times and they are AMAZING! I think any of the danishs’ would be because the crust is….indescribable and amazing! You should try one on your next coffee run!

I drink my coffee as soon as I get to work. No travel mugs for me even though some mornings that would be nice! :)

Okay, but I need to know are those pink sleeves on your Starbucks cup?! Why do we not have them in Canada. I totally want some.
My favourite coffee drink is just a plain black americano. I’m boring.
Lisa recently posted…What I Ate Wednesday – Orange Is The New BlackMy Profile

    • no not boring- i want to learn how to drink those- i drink way too much milk. and those sleeves are pink because they recently replaced all the bakery foods with bakery items from a san francisco bakery called la boulange, and those pink sleeves are advertising that. i love them!

  13. At least we know that you are on the hunt hyped up on caffeine and not drunk on wine! I think you have a better shot it that way πŸ˜‰ Although the wine might be more fun!

  29. I’m all about the soy chai lattes at Starbs. Love them.. but I don’t get them everyday. I have my coffee at work every morning. Cheap and does the trick.

  30. LOL this is what my trashcan at college looked like on most occasions. My favorite way to drink coffee is black, but I love to get one pump of the pumpkin spice syrup this time of year. I just love the flavor of it! I didn’t even know Starbucks had new bakery items! I’ll have to Google it.

  31. Haha – someone’s been very thirsty..and sleepy! lol I have 1 cup of coffee, with 1 Splenda and a smidge of creamer, every morning when I get up. I am, however, slightly obsessed with the Starbucks Light Frappuccino’s – totally my guilty pleasure! Mocha or Caramel are my favs. Although I’ve been going to DD from time to time (they totally position them right next to the Mommy & Me gyms – donut for the kid/coffee for mom!) and I like their Lite Lattes, iced or hot, depending. It’s about 90deg here now so today, for example, would be an ICED kind of a day!

    • Lol! thanks my dear, this comment put such a smile on my face:) and i love green tea too- i need to start drinking it more- its certainly healthier than coffee.

  36. Oh gosh, I’m a coffee fanatic! I saw your picture and thought, “Hmm. Normal.” I literally keep a coffee pot in my office and my boss and I go through one pot every day by 10:30 AM. Happy job hunting, hope it’s going well!

  38. A trashcan full of wine bottles would be worse you say? I get the same coffee from Starbucks every morning (black iced coffee with two pumps of caramel, exciting, I know) but every now and then I go crazy and get a Chai latte with a shot of espresso or Soy Pumpkin Spice Latte. I like to shake things up a bit. Good luck job hunting!

  39. Omg ok. So La Boulange was (is) a San Francisco bakery chain that got bought out by Starbucks for $100M sometime last year. I’m so excited to see they’re putting their pastries in Boston! I thought it was only test running in San Francisco. I think they’re a big upgrade from Starbuck’s old cardboard crap but the SB version is not as good as the actual stores. Did you like?
Tara recently posted…Thai Basil PestoMy Profile

    • yeah! when i found out la boulange was based in san francisco i thought of you!! ive only tried the banana loaf- and i loved it. i assume it cant possibly be as good as it is in the actual bakery, but from what ive had its really good. i need to try all the things to give an accurate assessment :)

  40. I like both coffee and wine equally – so I’d have both in my trash can! I love my soy latte at starbucks but lately its become an issue and I need an intervention. I have my morning coffee at home (also from starbucks) and then in the afternoon I head to my starbucks and get a soy latte. Its putting a hole in my pocket!
I like the look of boulange bakery good – I think its a nice change from the other stuff!

  43. Charlotte, I’m job hunting too and I can totally relate to this post! However I try to limit my intake of Starbucks coffee. I’m cheap and I don’t have a job πŸ˜‰ I drink lots of tea though. I just heat up one mug of water and add 1 or 2 teabags.
My fav Starbucks drink is a latte. I also enjoyed the cool lime refresher in summer.

  44. Own it girl! Own that junk! πŸ˜‰

I’m not much of a Starbucks gal since their frilly drinks are too sweet for my tastes…which for obvious reasons keeps me from enjoying their little treats! Boo! But I’ve been enjoying a lot of cocoa chai tea and some cookies at the casa…and I I may or may not have had pizza for dinner last night! πŸ˜‰
