Hello and welcome to Monday!

How was your weekend? Mine was quite fantastic actually. It was filled with lots and lots of delicious food, which I’ll discuss more in depth later in the week. But long story short, it started with some Mediterranean fare, continued with some hot pots in Chinatown and ended with a scrumptious Father’s Day dinner with my dad at one of our favorite restaurants in Boston.

Fitness-wise, I went for a 3 mile run (woohoo!) on Friday evening and I have to say this was the best run I’ve had in a very long  while. It also felt great just to be outside with the sun shining because last week was miserably rainy. Do you get tired and moody under such weather conditions? I do. Luckily the sun decided to stay out for the rest of the weekend and I appreciated it even more than I usually would.

Anyways as I was running on Friday, I was listening to Pandora’s “today’s hits” station and I was loving every song.  Thus, this week’s mixtape theme is just music I’m loving at the moment.  And there are two bonus tracks at the end by Lorde and Jessie Ware that my sister recommended, which are quickly becoming my two absolute favorite songs of the summer.

Spotify: Summer ’13 Mixtape

  1. blurred lines – robin thicke, t.i., pharrell
  2. cruise – florida georgia line
  3. radioactive – imagine dragons
  4. come & get it – selena gomez

  6. feel this moment – christina aguilera, pitbull
  7. love somebody – maroon 5

  9. can’t hold us – macklemore, ray lewis

Hope your week is off to a great start! Go Bruins!

How was your weekend?

Does weather affect your mood?

Are there any songs you’re particularly loving lately?

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Mine was good, thank you. I saw the movie, Mud, which I loved and highly recommend.

Exercise-wise, Eric and I walked alllll over Boston on Saturday. I’m not even sure how or why but we must have racked up a good 10 miles by the end of the day. On Sunday I went to Bar Method which felt great after a 3 day hiatus and then I watched the French Open.

Any Nadal fans in the audience? Did you see that crazy protester run onto the court with the lit flare that looked like he borrowed a stick of TNT from Wile E Coyote’s collection of ACME products?

It was nuts. I was expecting an anvil to drop from the sky next.

Anyways, the match went on and Nadal pulled through for the win, which makes him the first guy in history to win 8 French Open titles.

Allez Nadal!

Anyways, the inspiration for today’s mixtape has nothing to do with all of that. The inspiration for today’s mixtape came from the following train of thought:

(Friday afternoon)

Inside Charlotte’s head: ‘Who sings that song ‘here I go again’ again? Ah yes, Whitesnake! Thanks Google. You know what song I haven’t heard in a while- Feel Good Inc by the Gorillaz. That was a good song… Oh that’s funny they both use animals in their names, if I had a band I would do that too. Like, Charlotte and the Sharks with Freaking Laser Beams Attached to Their Heads (that would be one of those electronic music bands that also do light shows) or Charlotte and the Sheepdogs (that would be an 80s hair band cover band.) Anyways, I’m hungry, what time is it? What meal am I on?’

(2 days later)

Charlotte aloud to nobody: “Animal band mixtape theme! Bam!”

Spotify: You’re an Animal Mixtape

  1. feel good inc- gorillaz
  2. rock of ages – def leppard
  3. next episode – snoop dogg, dre dre
  4. hurts so good -john cougar mellencamp
  5. here i go again – whitesnake
  6. beep -pussy cat dolls
  7. i’m a believer – the monkees
  8. you make me feel – cobra starship
  9. goody two shoes – adam ant
  10. the tide is high – atomic kitten

Did I miss any good animal bands?

What did you do this weekend?

Did you watch any the French Open?

If you had a band, what would you name it?

Happy Monday, all!

How were your weekends?? Mine FLEW by. Like it started with a ‘yay it’s finally friday!’ then POOF! Sunday night. On Saturday Eric and I went to dinner at a restaurant called Oleana, and it was tremendous. We had quail, pig belly and a few other things because the portions are small, and it made my belly very happy. I also did something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time- I fiiinally bought new sneakers! Yay!

They are called the Saucony Kinvara 4. They are coral colored and I am obsessed. They are SO lightweight and so pretty and they make my feet so happy.

They look like this:

kinvara 4

And this what they look like on my feet:

And this is what they look like on the sidewalk:

And this is what they look like in Starbucks:

And this is how happy and snazzy I feel in them:

I literally feel like I’m running on clouds. It’s amazing. Did I mentioned I’m obsessed? Because I am ob-sessed. They’re my air force ones. They’re my pumped up kicks. Every night is sneakernight with these.

Are you noticing a theme?

What kind of running shoes do you have? What color are they?

How was your weekend?

What was the best workout you did this weekend?

It’s Monday, boys and girls. Which, as regular readers know, means it’s mixtape day!

AND as a cool twist this week, I’m taking part in Heather @ Fit Mama Real Food‘s Make It Monday link up. This is it’s inaugural week and I’m so psyched to be part of it! Heather does really cool crafts and DIY projects around her house and garden, and thought other bloggers might want to share the things that they made over the weekend too. And well, she hit the nail on the head as far as this blogger is concerned. Since I already make mixtapes every Monday, I thought it sounded like a perfect fit!

So thanks for hosting Heather! I love this idea! (ps- her MIM post is going up this afternoon)

So how were your weekends? I hope all you moms out there got pampered and appreciated like you deserve :)

My weekend was good. I didn’t celebrate Mother’s Day with my mom because she lives a couple states away, but she’s coming to visit me in a couple weeks and I can’t wait! What I did do this weekend was errands.

Lots and lots of errands. I did not make it to Bar Method on Saturday morning like I planned, but that’s okay because errands can be a workout in themselves- especially when you don’t have a car- and especially when you insist on going to the CVS/grocery store located a mile from your apartment (because they’re the best) and for some ridiculous reason also insist on buying the heaviest items they have in stock.

I then planned to go for a run on Saturday afternoon after all the errands and all the cleaning of my apartment with all the aforementioned CVS supplies, but I got distracted. Distracted by what, you wonder? By my personal time-blackhole, aka that thing that you always manage to get sucked into and can’t pull yourself out of for hours. Everybody has one. (At least one.) For me that blackhole is not facebook, nor pinterest, nor reddit, nor video games (I don’t even know what the cool ones are called) but no it’s none of those, for me it’s ABC Family.

Anyone else? Anyone at all?

That channel plays some great movies. And it just so happened they were playing a Harry Potter marathon all afternoon.

So, no, I did not get out for a run. I watched Harry Potters 4 through 6. (Well, I caught the very end of 4, and I turned it off about 10 minutes into 6 because enough is enough, but still. And it was kinda rainy at that point. I just thought you all should know that too.)

On Sunday I went to Bar Method and I did more errands, thus, more strength training. I’m sorry, Carrie Bradshaw, but shopping is not cardio, it’s anaerobic.

Anyways, ever since my afternoon o’ Harry Potter, I’ve had the song “do you believe in magic” in my head (for no particular reason, I just started humming it as I was watching) so I decided to make this week’s mixtape theme: MAGIC.

Spotify: Magic Mixtape

  1. magic – b.o.b feat rivers cuomo
  2. do you believe in magic – aly & aj
  3. every little thing she does is magic- the police
